Why convert PNG to AVIF?

PNG is the safe choice for screenshots, logos, icons, or anything with flat colors, sharp text, or a transparent background — but AVIF can store that same kind of image in noticeably less space. At a high quality setting, files typically come out smaller than the equivalent PNG while looking effectively identical, and transparency carries over either way.
