WebP is usually the safer bet when AVIF gets rejected somewhere: drop your files below to get one back, still meaningfully smaller than JPG or PNG and still transparent, all without anything leaving your device.

Why convert AVIF to WebP instead of JPG or PNG?
WebP simply had a multi-year head start: it landed in every major browser and image pipeline well before AVIF did, so plenty of CMS plugins, older tools, and upload forms support WebP but haven't added AVIF yet. Converting there instead of JPG keeps most of what made AVIF worth using in the first place, while landing on a format that's had more time to reach places AVIF hasn't yet.
Unlike converting to JPG, this keeps transparency intact if the source has any, since WebP supports it the same way AVIF does. The file ends up a little larger than the original AVIF, because WebP's encoder simply isn't as efficient, but it's still meaningfully smaller than JPG or PNG at the same visual quality.
